Arrowmont University of Arts and Crafts & Aatmos Current Nona Faustine’s ‘A Minute in the Mountains’ | News

GATLINBURG — As aspect of their Juneteenth observances, Arrowmont College of Arts and Crafts welcomed acclaimed poet Pamela Sneed (by using Instagram) to carry out a live reading through of 1 of her authentic works, followed by a second of silence. Sneed’s overall performance launched the formal announcement for ‘A Minute in the Mountains,’ an immersive inventive expertise, that will be guided by visible artist and photographer Nona Faustine from September 22 — 24, 2023, in the beloved Appalachian town of Gatlinburg, Tenn.

For the duration of the 3-working day retreat, attendees will celebrate area artists and develop interactions within this innovative local community. Sponsored by Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, which has been educating and preserving society given that 1912, along with community hospitality leader Aatmos, ‘A Minute in the Mountains’ will concentration on improving and reclaiming the Black, Indigenous and people today of coloration (BIPOC) community’s relationship with the good outside.
