Buford City Schools’ Student Highlight: Isabelle and Sophie Brewer

Identical twin sisters Isabelle and Sophie Brewer, the two seniors at Buford Large University, share a appreciate for the arts and the sport of tennis — equally have taken artwork courses all four a long time of significant school and ended up customers of the BHS varsity tennis group from ninth as a result of 11th quality when still actively playing tennis in their totally free time during their senior 12 months. 

Izzy and Sophie are the daughters of Craig and Sandi Brewer — Sandi is a fifth quality English/language arts instructor at Buford Senior Academy. The twins have an more mature sister, Olivia, who is 22 and graduated from BHS in 2017. 

The twins are “lifetimers,” getting attended Buford City Educational institutions from kindergarten by their senior year and also attended Buford Metropolis Faculties Daycare. Each have 4. GPAa and have taken honors and State-of-the-art Placement courses. 

When asked what spot of Triple A Excellence — excellence in teachers, athletics and arts — they believe they most depict, each stated the area of arts. 

“Although I think I excel in each and every space, my most loved, and the one I delight in the most, is the arts category,” Izzy mentioned. “I have remained continuously with distinctive art varieties during my higher college occupation, and I have appreciated each individual moment of it.” 

The twins have taken art classes all 4 several years of higher college, which includes a visible art course and quite a few classes in drawing and painting. Izzy obtained initial put in the Sophisticated Artwork class at the program extensive art clearly show in 2022, and Sophie received an honorable point out for a piece entered into the Atlantic Higher Faculty Art Exhibition. Izzy also obtained an honorable mention at the 2021 Shuler Awards for scenic structure for the generation of “Bright Star.” Equally twins have been component of the tech crew for the Wolf Pack Players constructing sets for productions and producing props and other aspects. 

Izzy and Sophie share extracurricular things to do, like Beta Club, the Nationwide Honor Society, the Nationwide Art Honor Society and Thespian Culture, and they volunteer at the North Gwinnett Co-op. 

When questioned which class they would continue to be in all working day if they could, the twins had the exact same answer. 

“I would remain in my artwork course with Mrs. Barge since she is very laid back, amusing, and supportive,” Sophie said. 

“Art … with Mrs. Barge,” Izzy mentioned. “I adore performing nearly anything art associated and I use artwork to de-tension quite a few times. In artwork course I truly feel calm and I’m in a position to let  my creativity shine via my work.” 

Kim Barge is also Izzy’s favourite trainer. 

“The environment she has established in her classroom is some thing I have not been in a position to obtain in any of  my other academics,” Izzy explained. “If I need to have any support with a particular challenge or if I just will need another person to talk to, I know Mrs. Barge is heading to be there for me. To me, and a lot of other fourth yr art students, we see Mrs. Barge as a good friend extra than a trainer.” 

Sophie’s favored teacher is Mrs. Lister.
